Ute Mountain in El Rio Grande del Norte National Park of northern New Mexico. This was shot looking south from just inside the Colorado border as a powerful late winter storm approached. Five minutes after a made this capture the whole scene was obliterated by a wind-driven blizzard.

Today New Mexico Senator's Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich introduced legislation to designate Ute Mountain and the Rio San Antonia Wilderness Study Area (WSA) as full-fledged Wilderness under the 1964 Wilderness Act. Read more here.
