Two days ago, I made the seven-hour round-trip hike to the top of Ute Mountain (10,093ft) on the northern edge of El Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. I've posted shots of Ute before here. Below, snakes the Rio Grande river, cupped deep inside its gorge. In the distance, near the top of the photo is Ute's sister volcanic cone, San Antonio Mountain. Between, stretches the plateau prarie of El Rio Grande del Norte National Monument.
